An English Meal Fit for the Queen

I have this strange habit of taking pictures of food. It's not that food is always on my mind or anything - it's just that food tends to set the stage for certain events and festivities. On my holidays/vacations - especially when I am out backpacking or camping - I tend to always snap pictures of the meal preparation and the final result. Generally when out in the great out doors, preparing a meal can be an ordeal and is often central to the adventure. Unless of course it is a true backpacking trip and we are eating dehydrated - rehydrated meals. Even then, I tend to take pics of boiling the water and eating out of the package.

Last weekend, my mom cooked a splendid English meal of roast beef, browned potatoes, gravy, cauliflower, corn, and Yorkshire pudding. Dad grew up in England and fought in the great WWII and mom learned the English way of cooking from his mom. The seasoning sauce Bovril is central to the flavor of this meal. Here are some splendid pics of a splendid meal that the Queen of England would enjoy.

Oops, I forgot to get a picture of the corn on the cob - a real staple here in the States.

Well, until next time - and I'm actually working on my Colorado holiday pics, replete with pictures of food and should have those posted soon. Bon Appetit
